REDD UP LATROBE PROJECT

The LCRP organized a clean-up project in partnership with Adelphoi Village to remove graffiti and broom clean parking lots, and alley ways. Adelphoi Village has adopted various areas and parking lots for regular maintenance and will continue to keep our downtown clean. A total of 16 clean ups were conducted by the Redd Up Crew in downtown Latrobe in 2010.

On Community Outreach Day, Saint Vincent College freshmen removed graffiti from downtown buildings.

We are continuing our clean-up efforts to improve the appearance of Latrobe’s downtown train station and its environs. Great strides were made this past summer! The exterior of the train station waiting room was repaired and received a fresh coat of paint, as well as the railings. Park benches were installed, and the concrete steps leading up to the platform repaired.

In addition, the LCRP engaged the expertise of Saint Vincent College’s Department of Fine Arts to enhance the passenger waiting area. Under the direction of Brother Mark Floreanini, graduate students Skye Unferdorfer, Mandy Jessel, and Kelly Timo volunteered their time and talent to paint a fantastic “LATROBE” mural that is now mounted on the exterior of the Latrobe Train Station Waiting Room for all to admire coming and going from our community.

The LCRP’s future plans include beautifying the railroad underpasses and walkways.
