The Latrobe Community Revitalization Program (LCRP) is a dedicated community-driven effort using the successful Main Street Program approach to:
- Revitalize our downtown business district by preserving our historical architecture and strengthening our economic development.
- Promote our unique heritage, while demonstrating our sense of community pride.
- Create more opportunities for recreational and cultural development for the benefit of the greater Latrobe area.
ABOUT THE MAIN STREET PROGRAM
The Main Street Program is a comprehensive, community based revitalization approach, developed by the National Trust for Historic Preservation. Since 1980, more than 1,650 communities across the country have participated in the program.
This program focuses on a five-point approach to revitalization--organization, economic restructuring, promotion, design, and safe, clean & green:
- Design – getting downtown into top physical shape
- Organization—creating consensus and cooperation among downtown stakeholders
- Promotion – marketing the best attributes of our downtown
- Economic Restructuring—establishing new uses for downtown while creating new assets and better utilizing existing assets.
- Safe, Clean & Green—establishing strategies and partnerships to improve public safety and improve the environment.
